a great program ruined

Have been using the program on my iPad wi-fi since April. Just downloaded the update and it wouldnt load. Deleted it to reinstall but there was no option but to pay again, with the strong risk it wont load again. So Ive lost the program, lost my money, lost my confidence in it.
